Pumpkin spice is everywhere and almost everyone loves it! Chains all over sell their own version of pumpkin spice flavors or drinks, and it's seen as the universal flavor of fall. The flavor was released in 1930 but was soon made into drinks in 1933 by Starbucks in Seattle, Washington. These items have blown up ever since and many are obsessed with it. But there are two different types of pumpkin spice; the drink and the flavor.

The pumpkin spice flavor was originally used to season pumpkin pies. Soon big brands created a pre-mixed flavor made of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice. This was released by Thomson & Taylor's and McCormickin the early 1930s. A Pumpkin spice drink was first sold by Starbucks in 1933, and soon transferred to every location. Now, it's a $500 million industry so soon other brands wanted to catch on with this trend. Now, brands like McDonald’s, Dunkin, Dairy Queen, Smoothie King, IHOP, 7-Eleven, Wendy’s, Trader Joe’s, Krusteaz, Thomas, Pepperidge Farm, Top Seedz, La Colombe, and so many more have their own version of pumpkin spice items.

Pumpkin spice is widely associated with fun fall memories. Whether it's apple picking or going on a walk and enjoying the changing leaves, we hope you all will enjoy this fall season, and many more to come!
