The college application process is stressful and relentless for everyone. Ashley Hall is the leading all-girls college prep school in Charleston, with a reputation for academic rigor. The anxiety associated with college preparations can be minimized by Ms. Murrell, the full-time beloved Director of College Counseling on campus, who has a deep connection to our school. When asked to define what makes a college prep school, Ms. Murrell confidently says, “The design of the curriculum enables students to move from high school relatively seamlessly to a college environment with a firm preparation in the fundamental skills that a student needs to be successful in college… to prepare a student for the academic expectations that come next.” Not only has she had 16 years of experience in the college counseling field, but her daughters have graduated from Ashley Hall and successfully navigated the college process as well. She knows the application from the student's point of view and the college counselor's perspective. Ms. Murrell credits herself with helping families mitigate their expectations of the process and looks forward to helping each student accomplish their goals and become a well-rounded, strong, independent woman.
