You’ve probably heard her name around campus since she's our student body president. Eads Hubbell has been an active member of the Ashley Hall community since the age of 3. We all know her and love her! Sarah and I got the opportunity to sit down with Eads to talk about Tampalooza, her Ashley Hall footprint, and other fun plans!

Starting with the biggest promise from her campaign speech, free tampons in the bathrooms, Eads was inspired to start Tampalooza after Julien Yates '23 brought Red Equity to Ashley Hall. She believes that being at an all-girls private school creates an opening for period poverty. Eads saw the need for free feminine products in the bathrooms and wanted to make sure they were stocked with band-aids, Advil, and tissues. Eads is excited to keep expanding Tampalooza and hopes that feminine products will be in all of the bathrooms sooner or later since a few bathrooms have not been stocked. She was excited about the dry-erase boards and dry-erase markers for the mirrors because it wasn’t something she originally anticipated in her Tampalooza plans. Fun Fact: When Eads was planning for Tampalooza, it took a 6-page spreadsheet to create the perfect layout, which turned out to be successful!

Other than free tampons, Eads included some other fun promises in her campaign speech like getting a cardboard cutout for the atrium and recreating the “Girl on Fire '' music video. I think we’re all looking forward to the day that Kris will be watching over us as we move from class to class. Eads also has plans to have a longevity instructor do yoga classes on the turf, as well as bring back Valentine's Day activities. She also wants to meet with the school chef to designate taco days for Tuesdays… and let’s be honest here, has anyone heard of Taco Wednesday?
Aside from all of the fun plans Eads has in store, Sarah and I also wanted a little bit of insight into her time here. Growing up at Ashley Hall, Eads had no idea where she was going to end up and she’s excited that she’s in the position of Student Body President, and hopes other girls will look up to her the same way she looked up to past Student Body Presidents. Her main advice to the underclassmen is to always keep an open mind because you never know where you’ll end up. Eads believes that her role as student body president has positively impacted the community. Not only is she an excellent communicator, but she’s also relatable and extremely helpful. She thinks that her biggest impact so far is Tampalooza and says that “teachers will come up to me and show me an article about free feminine products being stocked in bathrooms all over the world, or they’ll take the time out of their day to share articles about period poverty and free feminine products with me.”
Some of her favorite Ashley Hall memories are school trips like Nantahala because she’s always loved the bonding factor, and her favorite Ashley Hall tradition is Big Sister/Little Sister. She finds that the events help bring the community together and it’s always super fun getting to hang out with her little sister and her junior!

Aside from school, we asked Eads about her post-graduation plans. Based on her sweet and enthusiastic personality, I wasn’t surprised when Eads told Sarah and me that she was planning on becoming a camp counselor at Camp Wayfarer after she graduates! She was a Counselor-In-Training this past summer and enjoyed her time.
Whether an unexpected visitor comes along and you’re left without supplies, desperate for Taco Tuesday, or you’re in need of a Kris spotting, Eads has you covered.
